Final Sudan shots!
Thanks. To Amr for the wedding invitation. To numerous Sudanis for the great warm welcome. And especially to YSL & the Edrissi family for their great hospitality, food and much more. A most memorable four days!
A few final shots to finish off the series.
Photos:
Khartoum is famous as the meeting point of the Blue & White Nile rivers. MB took this shot from the top floor cafe of the Corinthia Hotel (aka Burj Libya Complex). Recent rains had left the glass facade very dirty so poor quality shot. But you get the picture!
Al Nilin Mosque on the Nile River. Sudan’s most famous mosque. MB had a particularly interesting inter-faith conversation with the resident Imam who did his best to convert MB to the ‘final word of God’. A very nice guy it must be said and he & MB got on like a house-on-fire.
Corinthia 5 Star Hotel in the background. Also called ‘Ghadafi’s Egg’. On account of fact that Libya funded it’s construction (when Mr Muamar Ghadaffi was in much better health).
A bird on the banks of the Nile. These birds whistle in Arabic and are Muslim. Sunni as far as MB is aware.
MB demonstrates ‘depth of field’ with his 7D!
Fishing the Nile. Heavy rains in previous weeks had raised the levels substantially and much surrounding landscapes were submerged at time of visit.
What a lady! MB’s henna tattoo lady tenderly applies the oil & henna mud – while MB tries to take selfies of sorts with his free hand! Great shot MB. Thanks MB!
At the Ozone Cafe. MB could easily have been in London or Paris or HX as he sat with Sudani friends at this great cafe situated on a traffic island in the middle of Khartoum. Trees and other dense vegetation block out the noise and sights of the traffic. A really beautiful oasis with seriously delicious food.
The most noisy meeting of two groups of females that MB ever heard! 3 Friends met 3 other friends. And it was like they were reunited after years of separation, with both groups thinking that the other group had died. And suddenly, by sheer chance, they happened across each other at the cafe. A few tables away from MB at the Ozone. Deafening!
If you are a Bob Marley fan you will recognise the colours. MB & Sudani friends at the Ethiopian Cafe. MB’s first shot is like a Renoir or Monet painting. Incredible skill with the camera. Bullshit MB, its just a blurry shot!
Secondary/High school kids all wear the same camouflage/khaki school uniforms. And get shot by militants on occasion who mistake them for real Sudani soldiers.
St Mathew’s Catholic Cathedral. Was closed on day of MB’s visit, hence no ‘inside’ pics. That’s YSL at the gate trying to see what a real place of religious worship looks like!
At the Shisha Shack in Sobo, a very poor neighbourhood of Khartoum. MB smoked Shisha with some brothers.

certainly like your web site but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very troublesome to tell the truth nevertheless I will surely come back again.

Good joke Mr Saleem. A Palestinian friend referred to MB last year as the best Muslim he knows! But very happy with my present status so no changes planned. Be a good example Mr Saleem – and MB will do same!
