It’s 10 minutes past 1am on 14 September 2021. MB finds himself in Georgia.
No.
Not the state the hosts the golf Masters at Augusta every year. But the state that sits next to the Black Sea and the Caucusus Mountains and includes the famous ancient wine growing region of Kakheti.
That Georgia.
Capital city Tbilisi.
Georgia is a former Russian republic. But in the 2008, Russia and Georgia fought a war over the disputed Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhasia. Things have settled down somewhat since then, and now that MB has arrived (with daughter MB2 in tow) things are bound to settle down even more.
In the coming days, MB will also enter neighbouring Armenia, the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as its official religion, in the 3rd century, far as MB is aware. But only last year, Armenia and neighbouring Azerbijan fough a bloody ground war over the disputed region of Nogorno Karabach, the first ever war fought using modern drone technology, an harbinger of the future it would seem. MBs calming influence would aslo appear to be required in that neck of the woods!
Anyway, both Georgia and Armenia are especially famous for their hospitality, food and wine. And great scenery.
MB intends to go native for the next week, give or take, and try to get under the local skin. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, is it not.
So let’s see how it all goes. MB has the camera all nice and shiny, with 4 or 5 batteries fully charged. So a local photo or two will wind its way to you all in the coming days.
Until then.
