HX Report – Food Glorious Food!

Morning boys & girls
Greetings to you all as MB packs his Dubai bags to return to Saudi Arabia once more. Saudi visa secured last night, so back to meet all MB’s Saudi friends tomorrow morning. Inshallah.

Been a while since MB spoke to you all about anything other than things Sri Lanka. So maybe a bit of catching up to be done. Firstly the HX Blog’s new look. Crosser, Follower & Ruskie RK will be thinking it’s because he asked MB for larger pictures on account of fact he is now 30 yrs old, and from here on this Ruski will struggle to read like all the rest of us. But the Ruskie is incorrect. It’s not result of his moaning & belly aching to MB that has changed the format.

It’s only on account of the old format getting all corrupted lads, with the font going all black, that MB was forced to take rapid-fire evasive measures. Black font against a black background  on the old format is pretty damn hard to read, whatever age you are, and MB had to find instant solution or lose all his advertising revenues for weeks & weeks, while some IT geeks at the hosting website sorted their sh*t out.

Now MB is not sure how the corruption happened. The thought did enter MB’s head that Young Sudani Lad had something to do with it. “And why would you suspect such a thing of Young Sudani Lad MB?” You may well ask lads. Well lads, Young Sudani Lad is an IT Engineer and he is black. So it all kinda fits together, like jigsaw puzzle where you just finally found the place for that impossibly shaped piece. It’s the best MB can think of at any rate lads, and MB will be having strong words with Young Sudani Lad in next days upon return to the Muslim Kingdom of SA.

And let’s just leave that particular subject parked right there for the mo lads. Further reports anon.

Food Glorious Food. Many/most of you will remember this one from childhood days. Was and still always on TV around Christmas time. From 1968, can you believe it!

Was reminded of it during the week out here when Dubai friend invited MB along to his food company’s ‘Meet The Bloggers‘ promotion at the World’s biggest shopping mall – The Dubai Mall. The idea he had was to invite the food bloggers (& food press) along to do some demonstrations at Gallery Lafayette restaurant in the Mall – to prepare some dishes in front of the public & write about it. Preferably using some of the company’s products, but not if they prefer to do something else.

MB ordered this desert with his coffee from the restaurant. No way the dozy bloggers could have made this one!

So the idea is/was that the bloggers prepare a dish, write about the event in their weekly blogs and his company reaps the publicity. Some of these bloggers have larger readership than the national newspapers out here so great idea to get loads of free publicity for his company (http://www.lootahpremiumfoods.com/)

He also introduced a photo competition as part of the event. The idea being that you upload a photo on Instagram, put a # to link the pic to his company and they will select a winner at the end of the week. Needless to say lads, MB has entered a few of his awesome pics, and Paddypower.com have now stopped taking bets on the eventual winner. Enough said!

So all the HX pics this week are from the occasion. Food photography is a speciality in its own right, but you will see lads that MB take’s to it like a duck to the wet stuff. Maybe yet another income stream opening up for MB lads. Who knows whats around that old corner!

Must say it was also great to get chance to take a few shots of some Emirati ladies. They have amazing eyes. Generally you don’t take photos of local ladies out here as it might cause offense, but in the situation we all found ourselves the ladies gladly posed for MB, or MB took a few sneaky shots without telling them!

As for the bloggers. Here are a few for you all to have a look at. As you will see many of them travel around the region, and don’t just confine themselves to Dubai. Or to the kitchen, tending for their husbands (haha, joke ladies!). Interesting reading even if you are not a big foodie. And nice lifestyle for the ladies. Eating yummy food (for free, as the hungry companies need the publicity), exotic travel, and earning wads of cash at same time. Allah u akbar (God is great) – as we all love shouting out these parts!

Cousins!

Think MB will just leave it at that lads. The world will just have to sort out its own problems this week, as MB is too full of the free food and just needs to go lie down. And maybe get back to the Mall for today’s 2pm presentation. MB must not eat any more this morning, so will have plenty of room left to stuff himself stupid with all the mouth-watering morsels that the bloggers will feed into the mouth of MB later on as he lazes on some 5 star sofa at the Mall. MB loves the bloggers.
